We love to provide support to teachers preparing their students for Trinity College London music exams and one of the ways we do this is by offering free CPD to teachers. These can be delivered digitally or face-to-face, perhaps as a twilight session or as part of larger INSET event. Read on to discover what’s on offer…

What sessions are available?
Get to know Trinity: what makes up a Trinity music exam?

Our introduction to Trinity’s Classical & Jazz exams session covers both grades and diplomas; what to expect in the exams, the mark scheme and exam process, our range of publications and how to enter.

Get to know Trinity Rock & Pop exams

The Rock & Pop version of our Get to know Trinity session explains the Rock & Pop exam format and entry process, whilst highlighting the repertoire and how the materials can be used in your setting.

Teaching and assessment – getting inside Trinity music exams

This is your opportunity to find out what it’s like to be a Trinity Classical & Jazz examiner! This interactive session invites teachers to watch graded exam performance videos and apply the assessment criteria for themselves, deepening their understanding of how our assessments are made.

Syllabus-specific sessions

These sessions are perfect if you have a group of teachers from a particular instrumental group who would benefit from an in-depth look at one or two specific syllabuses. Get into the details of the repertoire available and what is required at each grade, the principles that underpin the syllabus, technical work options, and the relevant publications and support materials available.

Supporting tests

With up to four options to choose from in our face-to-face exams, our Supporting tests session aims to demystify what these tests look like, how they are conducted in the exam, and tips on how to prepare students for them.

Awards & Certificates in Musical Development

Interested in learning more about our suite of fully inclusive qualifications? This session not only explains what Awards & Certificates in Musical Development are but gets teachers making the kinds of assessments expected of them for their students to achieve the qualifications.

Accrediting music with Arts Award

Arts Award can be a great alternative to graded music exams, providing opportunities for recognition in lesser available instruments and disciplines. This session aims to demonstrate how Arts Award’s flexibility can support music teachers in a wide range of different settings whilst developing both musical and 21st century skills.

What else do I need to know?

Support sessions are usually 80-90 minutes long and are designed to be delivered to groups of 10 or more people. *Sessions are typically free, but a small charge may be incurred if a face-to-face session is requested but has fewer than 10 people in attendance.
