It's that time of the year again!
As we're opening the Christmas box and have full access to our Christmas-themed objects, it makes perfect sense for us to bring them into the classroom. After all, realia can help to improve understanding, and there's no better time to pick up on that Christmas vocabulary and those festive expressions than December.
Learners should also be prepared to, and may get the opportunity to discuss holidays and festivals in Trinity's Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE), as these are included in the list of conversation subjects at Grades 4 and 5 (A2.2 - B1.1). At other levels, learners could choose to discuss 'Christmas' in the topic phase of the exam. Although, learners should refer to the language requirements when selecting their topic.
Once you've taught the vocabulary of all things 'Christmassy', we've pulled together ten short riddles that you can use to test your learners on:
- Snowflakes
- Snowmen
- Advent calendars
- Christmas trees
- Christmas lights
- Santa Claus
- Baubles
- Presents
- Christmas cards
- Christmas stockings
